My Birthday Goal

Saturday was my birthday. I purposed to spend the day doing as little cooking and cleaning as possible and to eat out for all three meals!

An ambitious goal, I admit! :)

I started off my day with a White Chocolate Mocha from my favorite coffee shop. (One that sells T-shirts that say, "Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks!") This was at 7:30 in the morning after dropping off my son, Josh, at the YMCA, where he works as a lifeguard.

When I got home, my oldest daughter, Tiffany, made me breakfast. She planned to make me an omelet, but discovered we were all out of eggs. Fortunately, we did have milk! (Do you have any idea how fast a large family can go through a dozen eggs and a gallon of milk???) So, she made me Brown Sugar Cinnamon Toast and Chocolate Milk! This was a a totally frivolous, non-diet breakfast -- one that my grandmother used to make me when I was a little girl! :)

My first meal out was lunch, which was eaten at Chili's with Tiffany. We both ordered the same thing -- my favorite menu item from Chili's -- the Quesadilla Explosion Salad. YUM! :)

I love my Sweet Tea, and didn't feel obligated to order unsweetened tea, since it was my birthday! :) While I swallowed my sweet tea, Tiffany sipped on a strawberry lemonade.

I had a coupon for a Free Birthday Dessert from Chili's, but I was too full to even consider it after finishing every bite of my salad! So, I left without ordering my dessert, and we went shopping at our favorite store.

Tiffany bought two new shirts, which are really cute -- and I bought some long sleeve shirts for my 4 year old daughter, Bethany and some earrings! (The thing I like about earrings, is they fit no matter where you are in your diet!) Here is a picture of Bethany wearing one of her new shirts. Isn't she a cutie pie??

That evening, my incredible hubby of 25 years, Alan, took us ALL out to eat at Johnny Carinos Country Italian Restaurant in honor of my birthday (and to help me reach my birthday goal!). Perhaps the best part of the meal, was dipping that fresh, hot bread in the olive oil and Italian spices! YUM! Then, we enjoyed our salads quite a bit; so by the time our entrees arrived, most of us were already full!! (That doesn't include those over 6 feet tall -- of which there were four that qualified! They were eager to eat every bite on their plates and help out others with their uneaten food as well!!) We did manage to find some room for the delicious food. I ate half of my plate of Bowtie Festival -- one of my very favorites -- and took the rest home to eat later.

This is me with my 14 year old son, Joseph, in front of Johnny Carinos.

Here is Joseph studying the menu, with Hannah and Luke in the background.

This is Alan and me - trying to stay away from the bread basket while we awaited our meal!

I love this picture of me, Bethany (4), Hannah (11), and Tiffany (23), after we ate way too much pasta!!!

Following dinner was the highlight of my day -- we went to see the new movie Fireproof. I've been eagerly awaiting the release of that movie for months, because it was made right here in our little town of Albany, GA. Not only that, but much of the movie was filmed in a house right in Our Own Neighborhood! Yes, Kirk Cameron was jogging, and kicking trash cans, and fighting with his "wife" less than a mile away from me! (You'll have to go see the movie to see what I'm talking about!)

The movie was Awesome!! Very well done! I'm just so impressed with the movie and its message that Marriage is meant to be Forever and that You should Never Leave Your Partner Behind! Please go see this movie! It would make a great Date Night for you and your husband! Then go back with the kids -- it would make a great family night too!

Can you tell I'm really excited about this movie?? :)

After the movie, I opened presents from my family, and then we ate ice cream together, which is an Ours Family Favorite Pastime!! :)

Tiffany and I ate our ice cream out on the back porch -- so that I could truthfully say I had Eaten Out three times that day!!! :)

It was an awesome birthday!!!

Hi Elizabeth, I missed getting to wish you a happy birthday. So, please consider this a belated birthday wish for you...
Congratulations on your blog. I've been considering changing over to blogspot from xanga. How do you customize the top banner with your own photo?
We just got our first Kohl's in Miami...opens tomorrow and I'll be there! We've been shopping there for several years while traveling to Georgia, Tennessee and SC. So, now we will have our own...can't wait.

Thanks Kathy for being my very first Commenter!! Now I feel like someone else is actually reading this thing! :) Honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing here! There are some advantages to not having anyone know you are here for awhile -- I posted things, then edited them, and then reposted, and I'm still making changes to things like the formatting and I need to work on my profile, but I'm getting there! I noticed that others had custom pictures on the top banner, so I knew there had to be a way. . . I clicked on Customize and then I was able to edit the Header. I uploaded a picture and had to work with it to get it to fit right. Then, I figured out how to change the font, size and color of the Name of my Blog so it would show up better. Like I said, I'm still playing around with everything! It has been a lot of fun so far and I'm looking forward to maintaining this blog as time allows.

a wonderful birthday to be sure!
Tiffany is the one that went to the Commit Conference when I met you with our daughter Faith, right? She is growing up to be as beautiful as her mom!

I randomly found your blog in the vast internet world. It's weired reading about people that you don't know but also so inspiring. I cried when I read your birthday post. I'm only 25 and I'm married with a 2 1/2 year old boy. I've always wanted to have a large family and hope that it will happen. I appreciated your post and hope that someday I'll have a birthday like yours with lots of my own kids around.

I'll have to watch that movie you blogged about. It's also refreshing to read about someone who has been married for so long. God job. It's so rare these days.
Love, Damaris

Hi Mary C! Thanks for clarifying who you were! I did not recognize you by that name!! No, I believe I was at the Commit conference in OK City with my second oldest daughter, Ashlyn. She turns 21 next week! That same year, I went to the RUTH conference in Indy with Tiffany. What special times we had! I miss those days! Elizabeth

Thank you, Damaris, for stopping by and for leaving that sweet comment! That was certainly an encouragement to me today!! May the Lord bless you with a strong marriage, a house full of children, and lots of love and laughter to help you through the hard times. Yes, hard times come to every family. That point is made in the movie -- fires will come, but you want to build a marriage that will withstand the fires of life! Go see the movie!!! :) Blessings, Elizabeth

Wow, what a special birthday! :)

My husband and I saw Fireproof a few weeks ago...and like you, we LOVED it!!! I can't imagine a better date night movie--one that left us feeling more in love with each other than ever before, but also more in love with God. Perfect! And how funny that it was filmed in your neighborhood! :)

I saw your blogsite on the website to be nominated so I thought I would come and take a quick pick. I would just like to say that your large family is very inspiring to me. The fact that you homeschool and live in Albany, Ga even more so. We are from Albany although now we live in OKC, but when we told our family our decision to pull all 6 of our kids out of public school we were hit with so much negativity. This is our first year and it has been kind of rough, but I would not change things at all. Congratulations on your nomination and Good Luck!
