I Now Have Four of These!!!

Yesterday -- October 1st -- may have seemed like an ordinary day to you, but it was a very non-ordinary day at Our house. It was the day our sweet-spirited son, Christopher, turned 13!

Translated, that means I now have 4 teen boys in my house!!!

That is a lot of testosterone all in one house, not to mention, all in one bedroom!!

It is also quite a strain on the grocery budget. I have yet to figure out how to keep all of these boys Full without spending enormous figures on Food!!!

Here Chris proudly blows out all 13 candles!

This momentous occasion also reminded me of one of my all time favorite articles by Michael Pearl on the mysterious thing that happens to boys when they are about 13 or 14:

This article really helped me understand that the way my boys were behaving was normal. They were just flexing their leadership muscles in preparation for the role God has for them. He designed them to take dominion and to subdue the earth. He designed them to be leaders in their homes, in their churches, and in their communities. But, they also need to learn to be men under authority, servant leaders and "gentle giants", not steam rollers!! This is the primary challenge of these teen years! (That and getting them out of bed in the mornings!!)

Here are two pictures of my Christopher -- one on the brink of manhood -- and one at the very dawn of life.

Hi, I've just found your blog and am enjoying it. I've had 3 teen sons in the house at one time, but never four. And yes it is hard to keep them full! Now that I've only got 2 sons left at home since the older 3 have left, my grocery bill is a lot less! (Until the older ones come home to visit that is). Blessings, Jules said...

First time visitor (blog hopping since I have a little extra time). You are so incredibly blessed! Ten children... beautiful children! I so look forward to (hopefully) having more blessings and celebrating such events like... becoming a teenager.. with them! :)

You know what my favorite meal stretcher is? RICE! :) It's cheap and it's filling.... and easy to stock up on!
