Monday Night Football

My son, Luke (10), is thrilled to be getting the unprecedented opportunity of playing on a Youth Football Team with his friend, Jase. Jase's Dad takes them to practice on Thursdays and to their games on Monday nights, where we join them for the action.

Luke is a quick little guy with Long Legs, so he is getting to play running back. He made his first "touch down" last night -- but, it was called back due to a holding penalty. :( Oh well! He did well running the ball and had a great time, so, that's all that matters.

After the game, his coach told me that he was a tough little guy and that he has a natural aptitude and ability for the game of football. What his coach didn't realize, is that he has been playing backyard football with his BIG brothers since he was 5!

Luke's older brothers are *so proud* of him and quick to brag on his abilities, while also a bit jealous that they didn't get to play football at Luke's age, but I'm quick to remind them that they weren't interested in sports back then. (And I wasn't interested in pushing them into them, either!!) All they wanted to do was play Davy Crockett/Daniel Boone or re-enact battles from the War Between the States, complete with blood-curdling rebel yells!! Taylor loved to read biographies and history and adventure books (He still does!) and would draft his brothers into acting out the battles and adventures of his real-life heros. A far more preferable childhood actually!

Here are some pictures of Luke (#28) and his friend, Jase, from last night's football game.
