Sunday Afternoon

Sunday mornings can be quite stressful -- trying to get everyone ready and out the door for church on time! But, don't you love peaceful Sunday afternoons??

The first order of business today was to help my 6 year old wiggle a tooth out! Isn't he cute with that front tooth missing?

Then, it was back to the kitchen to work on Sunday dinner. I just love it when I come home from church and the aroma of our dinner fills the air as we walk in the door. My crock pot is my Sunday dinner hero!

Today we had one of our family's favorite Sunday dinners -- Italian Roast Beef, Ranch Potatoes, and Sauteed Green Beans. This meal is so delicious that I just had to share my "secret family recipes"!! :)

Italian Roast Beef

1 rump roast, 3-5 pounds
1 packet Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 can Del Monte Italian diced tomatoes

Place roast in crock pot sprayed with Pam. Sprinkle roast with Italian dressing mix and brown gravy packet. Top with 1 can Italian diced tomatoes and 1/2 can water. (If you have 12 mouths to feed, like I do, repeat all ingredients!!) Cook for 6 hours on high, or 12 hours on low. Save juice to serve over meat and rice or potatoes.

Ranch Potatoes

I get one of the boys to make up some instant potatoes (Idahoan Real Premium brand) and then add Ranch dressing mix to taste. This is so quick and easy and is amazingly good!! Most of my family actually prefers this to real home made mashed potatoes! (Don't tell my Mom!!!) :)

Sauteed Green Beans

I put about 1/3 cup olive oil and 1/3 cup soy sauce in the bottom of a wok or deep frying pan and fill the pan with 1/2 bag of Birdseye frozen green beans from SAMS. I sprinkle with a little garlic powder and sometimes some minced onion, turn the burner to medium high, and put on the lid and saute/steam the green beans until tender. These will need stirred every few minutes. This is my family's absolute favorite way to eat green beans!!!

The family gathers at the dining table eager for our family feast!

Yum - doesn't my plate look good?!! I'll have to admit, it was a delicious meal!

After dinner, the big boys cleaned up the kitchen, and then each person found a quiet spot to rest, read, play, do homework, work on the computer, or catch a football game on TV.

A little later, Alan helped the boys work on their "post moves", so they will be ready for the first basketball game of the season, which is Thursday!

And Tiffany and Hannah took a bike ride . . .

While I replied to a few emails and updated my blog!

Before we knew it, it was time to go back to church and our relaxing Sunday afternoon was over for another week.
