Ashlyn's Graduation

We were in SC this past weekend for our daughter, Ashlyn's graduation from the Evangelical Institute, which is a two-year Bible school, tucked away in the foothills north of Greenville. All of the graduates gave a three-minute testimony, and it was a very moving service. Apparently, six-year-old Matthew did not find it particularly engaging, however!

After the service, we tried to beat a thunderstorm over to the newly renovated Dining Hall for the reception, where we were greeted by many types of delicious, freshly baked cookies and punch, and were able to fellowship with other graduates and their families.

Alan's Mom (Mum Mum) was not able to travel up for the graduation, but my parents (Nanny and Pa Pa) had the advantage of living close by, and were thankfully able to attend.

I love this picture of Ashlyn with her Pa Pa! They have always enjoyed an especially close relationship.

This is me and my Mom! Isn't she beautiful?

We wandered onto the deck in between cloud bursts! I snapped this picture of Tiffany - 23 and Ashlyn - 21 just as big drops were beginning to fall!

That evening, we took Ashlyn out to eat at Trio's in downtown Greenville to celebrate.

As you can see from the above pictures, Greenville has a Beautiful, revitalized downtown area with many unique restaurants and shops.

After dinner, we walked down to Falls Park, which is a beautiful man-made park designed to showcase the sparkling Reedy River -- a river who attempted to hide its polluted waters from view back when I was growing up in the seventies. I wish I could have taken pictures of the park and the beautiful bridge that was built to creatively span the river, but darkness fell too quickly. Check out the link above if you want to see some pictures.

Sunday after church, we left for home and Ashlyn left for the next step of her training. She is fulfilling a life-long dream by attending a two-week photography course in Atlanta, where she hopes to refine her natural photographic abilities. Hopefully, she will post some of her photos soon on her blog!
