Our Independence Day Celebration!

We had a great 4th of July. Poor Joseph had to work from 11 until 7, but everyone else enjoyed a relaxing day of swimming together in the pool, eating grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixin's, catching a bit of the Brave's game, watching a family movie, and playing games together.

Here is a picture of my special July 4th trifle dessert. It was made by layering white cake, French Vanilla pudding, Cool Whip and strawberries and blueberries. It was very light and refreshing, and had great "curb appeal" too, don't you think?

We enjoyed playing different games in the pool. Here are some snapshots of the family "water baseball" game.

Alan did a great job grilling the hamburgers and the hot dogs. He gives the credit to his Big Green Egg!

Here is Taylor, who makes the most of every opportunity to "chill out!" He was also in charge of the music for the day, and organized the Cannonball and Diving contests!

And here is a video of our Cannonball Contest!! This was my first time to upload a video, and I thought it was sort of fun! Watch the video clip and then leave a comment telling me which child "won" the contest!

I know that July 4th is about more than just cookouts and fire works and spending time with family and friends. I really wanted to post an inspiring blog post about the cost of liberty, and the need to stand up for our freedoms before they are gone, but every time I started thinking these thoughts, I would get too discouraged to continue down that path. It is very upsetting to watch helplessly as our freedoms are being systematically destroyed by the current administration, and swiftly replaced with a thinly disguised socialist agenda. So, instead, I will just encourage you to read the story of The Little Red Hen, which used to be one of my favorite childhood stories. This is a little different version, as you will soon discover.

Love the blog!! I don't think it is a "fair" contest....as "Big T" definately makes the biggest splash! However, "style" is a different story.......

I agree it is sad to see our country changing. I wonder how many July 4th celebrations we will hve left...

Yet, on a positive note, God is still on the throne!
