Eventful Weekend

We had a busy weekend, and I'm still recovering from all of the activity and excitement!

As I've already blogged about, Thursday was Christopher's 14th birthday and Friday was Homecoming and the football game at Sherwood. Saturday was also full of activity, including the infamous backyard football game! It was fun having Taylor home for the weekend, too. (He didn't have a game this weekend.)

I know that Taylor loves a BIG, country breakfast, so I got up early on Saturday morning and made homemade biscuits, honey butter, scrambled eggs, and sausage. Alan had to get up early, too, and go to work, so he missed his favorite breakfast. :( The boys emerged about 10 am when the aroma from the kitchen finally woke them up!~ Can you "smell" that sizzling sausage and the biscuits, steaming hot from the oven and dripping with honey butter?

Everyone seemed to enjoy breakfast. I have to admit, it was pretty yummy! :)

When their tummies were full, the boys fought over the sports page! Looks like Joe won that contest!

After the breakfast mess was cleaned up, it was time for round 2! Tiffany mixed up some of her famous chocolate chip cookies, and I dropped them on the pans and baked them. Taylor wanted some to take back and share with his roommate.

Then, before we knew it, it was time for round 3! Yes, we were eating AGAIN! We had an afternoon cook-out about 3:00 pm. Alan grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and I made baked beans to go with it. We also had cole slaw, potato salad, and chips. So, it was quite a fattening feast! Personally, I was still full from breakfast, which helped me eat just a plain hamburger and some baked beans! We ate early, so the boys could hang out with some friends for the evening.

Unfortunately, everyone was so busy eating and having fun, that Taylor forgot he had an appointment for a haircut, and missed it entirely. I was pretty disappointed about that, as his mane definitely needed thinning out!!!!

Alan is famous for his fierce fly swatting! I caught him in the act of hunting down those pesky little critters and sending them to an early grave!

After the cook out the boys played football in the backyard. Then, I went shopping with Tiffany, while the older boys went to a friend's house. Chris sat on the couch playing Wii games, trying not to move his injured arm.

Sunday morning, while the rest of the family went to church, I took Chris to the pediatrician's office to have his arm examined. The pediatrician confirmed my suspicion that it appeared broken, and referred him to an orthopedic doctor for further diagnosis and treatment, which you can read about here.

Sunday afternoon, about 4 pm, I left to take Taylor back to LaGrange. (I got a chuckle out of the college T-shirt he was wearing, which you can see in the picture below!) The 2 1/2 hour drive gave us a good opportunity to talk, until he started snoring! ;) I got him there at 6:30 pm, just in time for his team meeting, then turned around and headed back for Albany, arriving back home at 9 pm, exhausted!

Little did I know what a busy Monday I would have!

Hehe, that's a funny t-shirt. You sure did better at breakfast than I do every morning!

I love the t-shirt too, it's very funny!

I'm going to go back and read about the arm. I hope everything is okay or will be soon!

Now you know why I struggle to lose weight -- when I have to keep the food flowing for all those hungry boys (and girls!)!!! If I make it, I want to eat it!!!! It is definitely a problem!

Oh dear, you have been busy, haven't you? It looks as if what you call biscuits are what we call scones. We'd serve them up with jam and cream. Mmm. Hope that arms heals quickly.

Reading your post sure made me hungry!! Food, family, and memories...what a great weekend...other than Christopher getting hurt! I know you enjoyed your visit with Big T, and it gives you a good excuse to bake and eat! :)
Cute t-shirt too!
