Sticker Shock

This is the initial x-ray of Christopher's left arm. You can see on here how his elbow was broken in two places, which required surgery last Monday to repair. He now has two screws holding the bones in place, plus he is in a full arm cast.

Yesterday we received the first statement from the hospital. How much do you think his surgery cost? Remember, it was outpatient. Keep in mind, he was only there for four hours total. He had screws inserted to repair a broken bone; he did not have open heart surgery and was not on life support. However, I was afraid my husband would need to be on life support after he saw the bill!

What's your guess?? Would you believe twenty thousand dollars???? And that does not include the Orthopedic doctor's bill!!!

Can you say, "Ouch?!"

Wow! Crazy isn't it?! It is amazing how expensive good health care is! Unfortunately, "Obama care" isn't the answer-Christopher would not have been able to get such quick and good care as he did!
I often get discouraged over financial matters, but I need to remember "God owns the cattle on a thousand hills.." He often "tests" my faith in this area! As I remind myself often...He will provide! :)

NO! Are you serious, I was going to say $4,000, boy was I off!

What a bad break on that poor boys elbow!

Thanks for all your love and support. ;-)

GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!! You WOULD think they had saved his life for that amount of money! I pray you have good insurance.

I'm glad you posted the x-ray. It scanned well. It's hard to believe we can do that to our bones! He was a real trooper!

That's incredible! I know there are faults with our health system but for that kind of injury our total bill would be $0.00. And that's without health insurance. Hopefully your DH survived the reading of the bill!

Man, oh, Man! That is INSANE. I remember paying US$ 5,000.00 for a c-session, 17 years ago, in Wisconsin. But this is going TOO far! Well, at least we KNOW that the Lord takes good care of us, He is our provider. Our hope is in Him alone! May God bless you and heal Christopher's arm quickly.
