Glimpses of Fall

Fall has finally arrived here in South Georgia! While it is a little later making its debut, perferring to be "fashionably late," and doesn't make quite as bold of a statement, since it wears more muted colors in this part of the country, it is still a welcome change of scenery and temperature! I thought you might like to see some scenes which confirm that autumn has arrived in the deep south. Depending on where you live, these scenes may be totally familiar or a little unexpected . . .

A little boy proud to be wearing his new fall clothes -- while a Bradford Pear tree sheds her fall wardrobe . . .

Golden autumn leaves sharing the glory with trailing Spanish moss . . .

Carolina blue skies that showcase amber leaves . . .

Bare pecan trees and a bounty of delicious, fresh pecans . . .

Fields of snowy, white cotton ready to be picked . . .

Freshly harvested peanuts covering the area with their earthy smell . . .

It amazes me how very similar, yet different southern Georgia is from North Eastern Georgia where we are. Our colors came late too, but they were still so bold and beautiful! We have a lot more vegitation than you do, with us being closer to the mountains. I think all of Georgia is just georgious though! My husband likes the wide open spaces in Southern Georgia. He goes down there to hunt several time a year.

It is so funny that you are just experiencing fall, and we are on the verge of winter! I loved the pictures by the way! We enjoy the corn, wheat, and bean fields...you get to see the peanuts, pecans, and cotton!

The photos look lovely. It really is a lovely time of year. I love being able to gather the last of the produce from the garden and to be able to smell the change of season in the air.

Now if summer would only hurry up and get here I'd be happy!

I love the cotton crop pictures, it's like Georgia "snow" :D I did get the cd's and I'm very excited about listening to them. So many aged women don't share their wisdom, so I"m so glad you were able to capture this on cd. Thanks again!
