Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

No, I haven't snuck in another son when you weren't paying attention! We'll really only be needing six brides around here -- and that not for a few more years!

"Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" is one of my favorite old movies, one that we have watched many times over the years! Therefore, I was really excited to learn that Joe's school had chosen "Seven Brides . . . " as the musical they would perform this year. Joe made his acting debut as one of the town boys and rival suitors.

I went to the opening night on Thursday, with my daughter, Hannah, and my friend, Martha, and her daughter, and then returned Saturday for the final performance with Alan, Tiffany, Ashlyn and Bethany. (Yes, Ashlyn was here for the weekend! But that story belongs to another post! Stay tuned for more details!)

We were thoroughly impressed with the performance! They did a fantastic job and it was so much fun watching Joe on stage! If you are familiar with the movie, he was in the "barn dance" scene, where he danced with one of the "brides," who was stolen away by one of the "brothers," which resulted in the "brawl" that ended that memorable scene!

All of the actors and actresses did a great job, and we definitely enjoyed the play! The girl below played the lead role of "Millie." She was fabulous!

After the performance, we all took turns getting our picture made with Joe! He's a pretty good-looking guy, so don't let that stage make-up scare you!

Did you happen to record the play too?? It would have been nice to see Joe perform...sorry! It has been a long time since I have seen that movie. It looks like everyone had fun! What a nice surprise to see Ashlyn there!
Did you have Joe sign your program?? :)
