Valentine's Day Celebration

How do you celebrate Valentine's Day at your house?

We try to have a special meal together as a family, either at home or in a restaurant, and Alan always gives me and each of the children a box of chocolate candy.

We ended up having two special Valentine Dinners this weekend!  On Saturday, I made a big pot of Spaghetti Sauce with Italian Sausage, chopped onions, mushrooms, green peppers, etc.  So, we ate Spaghetti, Tossed Salad and Garlic Bread for dinner.  Hannah decorated the table for Valentine's, much like we did last year with a sparkly heart garland and red, white and pink M&Ms scattered across the table.   It looked really pretty.

Me -- finally taking off my apron after a long day spent in the kitchen!  :)

After dinner, Alan and I, along with the three oldest boys, all went to the Region Championship Basketball game.  Taylor really got into the spirit, as seen below!!!  He made posters, painted his face, and enthusiastically cheered for his alma mater!

I don't know if it was Taylor's enthusiasm that made the difference, but Sherwood won by a good ten point spread, making school history as they became Region champs in both football and basketball this year!

Sunday, I ended up making another special meal -- Rosemary Garlic Pork Loin with roasted potatoes, Seasoned Cheese Grits, Asparagus, and Buttered Carrots.  It was yummy!!

Some little Valentine cards and gifts were left at each person's place and were enjoyed after the meal.

Don't you love fun family celebrations and generous, thoughtful siblings??

Valentines is our anniversary, so we try to do something special every year. Since Rick is a preacher, we did our night Friday, going out on our first date in 9 months. We went out to eat and shared a blizzard. I made heart shaped chocolate chip cookie bars. Yummy!

What a wonderful celebration. I still can't get over how much your daughter looks like you. She is so pretty.

Sometimes we go out to eat, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we celebrate, sometimes we don't. This year we were at church all day.

Your table looks so pretty!

Isn't that sweet! We don't really do anything "special" for valentines day..maybe we should start a new tradition for next year! :)
You are always so creative with your table decorations....I never think of doing those things!

I can't wait to tell you about my most special Valentine's Day ever. I need some high tech help from my children and a little more energy--this kidney stone is wearing me out. Soon, though, I WILL post again. ;-) It will be worth the wait.
