Waiting for Snow

I know that many of you have snow up to your eyebrows (literally, in some cases, depending on where you live and how vertically challenged you are!), but here in Southwest Georgia, snow is a rarity.  In fact, many folks who are from this area have never even seen snow!

So, having snow in the forecast has caused quite a stir here!  Would you believe that just the prediction of snow for today caused a flurry of school closings?!!?  (Those of you who live in snow country, stop holding your sides in laughter!!)

The weather forecast was calling for 2-4 inches of snow here, but I think the temperatures are a little warmer than anticipated.  Currently, it is 38 degrees F, and we have snow showers alternating with rain.  The children are monitoring the mercury, memorizing the weather reports, and conducting a frequent "flake count!"

I don't know if you can see the streaks of white in any of these pictures, but it really is snowing!

Stay tuned for updates on our winter weather!

Update:  3:00 pm -- The snow is coming down fast and furious and starting to stick on the grass!  :)  It is such a beautiful sight!

Excitement is mounting . . . .

We are not exactly equipped for wintry weather these days!  :)

I've heard the crazy weather taking place down south. Weird. I'm not sure about the shapes and colors thing. If it is those little round puzzle like things that colored pieces can go then yes, we have them. But I haven't seen hardly any Lauri things lately anywhere. Even online.

I've not seen that movie but I will definitely look into getting it somehow. Would be a perfect ending to the study. Thanks for telling me.

Enjoy your snow!!!!!!! I am so excited for you!! I hope you get enough to go sledding or make a snowman! :) I would gladly share some of our snow with you if I could.
The nice thing about getting snow where you are is that it is not so cold you don't want to go out! Another benefit is that it doesn't last for months! :)
Have fun! Make hot chocolate and cookies and enjoy this special and rare event!

Have fun! WV, Pa and DC have had their fair share but us up here in NH need a little to cover the dirty piles that hang around until spring. I'd like another big snow for FEB and then an early spring!!

How much did you guys end up getting? Here in Travelers Rest, SC we've currently got about 2" (as of 8:16 PM) I'm sick of cold weather and beyond ready for summer but this is a pretty soft fluffy snow and I'm glad to see it come our way.

Hi, I've been lurking for a while and wanted to introduce myself officially- thanks for the follow on my blog! :) I have really been enjoying reading about your life on your blog. Thank you for sharing with those of us who are still trying to figure out this big ol' world. Congrats on the snowfall!

Snow is beautiful, but we had enough for 16 years in Wisconsin. Now we are enjoying the warm weather of "way down South" (Brazil) and NO SNOW! Blessings on your "snow day"!

Love it! My 7 year old asked me a few years ago, "Mommy, is snow real?" because he didn't remember it ever snowing! :) (It snowed once during his first four years, and he was too young to remember it.)
