Going for a Coastal Look

"Outerbanks" is the name of the paint color I chose for the family room in our new house.  (Yes, we finally found a house to lease on the Georgia coast and have all the paperwork in place!  :)  We had a Paint-a-thon this weekend and got the family room all painted and the master bedroom primed and ready for me to attack next weekend!

Here is a "before" picture of the family room:

And here is an "after" picture:

I did the cutting in as far up as I could reach comfortably, and then Alan took it from there!  Joe did most of the rolling.  Many hands make light work!

I am trying to achieve a lighter feeling, not so heavy, more appropriate to coastal living.  What do you think??

I love lots of light, so I don't plan to put those heavy curtains back up.  What I would really like to see on the windows is plantation shutters --  maybe if we are able to purchase the house down the road. . .

I know who to get to repaint some rooms in my house!! :) Looks great!

I am "torn"....I really like both the before and after pics! I do like the light color you chose, and it will really lighten up the room! I also liked the darker...and your "heavy" curtains! (Maybe that is a more "country" feel?)

I know it would be awesome if you were able to purchase the house later! It seems to have a lot of room for your family..... not to mention the other "benefits"!! :)

Beautiful color! I love the fresh feeling in that wonderful room. Good thing for tall guys in the family too, with walls that high. So glad you found a beautiful home.

Oh, I am so glad that you painted it. I thought, for a second, that the first picture was the color you chose. I thought, hmmmm, well, maybe they do things differently in the South! lol LOVE the new color, and I second the not putting the curtains back up!!!

How in the world do you not get paint on all the WHITE woodwork??? I didn't see any tape. Are you all master painters?

Love the new color! Nice to have good painters in the family. We hate to paint here....and we aren't very good at it!! And the curtains are way too floral and heavy for that "coastal" look!! So glad you have found a nice place to lease!!

I love the lighter color you chose--dark can look really good, but lighter colors make a room look airy. Beautiful job!
