A Picture Perfect Picnic in the Park

On Friday, after a morning of diligent school work, the children and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day on the Georgia coast with a picnic in the park.

I just love the stately live oak trees which adorn the deep south!  Ever thought about how many picnics these trees have witnessed through the years??

The low-lying branches beckoned the children to climb aboard!

After eating their lunches, the children ran off to play on the playground, much to the delight of these winged creatures:

Hannah came and got my camera, so she could take pictures of the children enjoying the playground.

One is never too old to have a little fun playing!  Don't you agree??  ;)

While the kids explored the playground, I savored the opportunity to start reading my new book, with the sea breezes blowing gently across my face!  (happy sigh!)

Then, we walked out on the pier, where we watched three pairs of dolphins (or porpoises??) frolicking in the water and observed literally hundreds of jellies swimming by!  We wondered if Earl stirred them up??

We also watched some families who were fishing from the pier.  This little girl, who was ironically named "Ashlyn," caught a stingray on her line and her Dad reeled it in for all to admire!

After admiring the lighthouse one more time, we reluctantly agreed that it was time to leave.

Yes, it was a picture-perfect day!

Great pictures!! There were so many cute pics of the family. Thanks for the "glimpse" of the fun you are having at the beach!

What a beautiful spot to read a book! I think I could spend all afternoon right there....

I know you are loving your time at the beach.......wish we were there together! :)

I agree. A picture perfect picnic. I love the tree and birds, and oh yes, the water. We planned a picnic today and we did it, only we didn't leave the backyard. I intended to but somehow.......the day wouldn't work out for it.
