Making Time for Some Fall Fun

It's hard to stop and take a break from unpacking, when there is still so much to be done and I'm so eager to have my house in order, but I decided to take a break Friday morning and join the local home school group for a field trip.  The destination was a nearby Pumpkin Patch.

They had many activities set up for visiting children to enjoy.  The hayride was one of the favorites.

Each child got to select a small pumpkin to take home.

After a picnic lunch, we worked our way through the corn maze.  Unfortunately (for those around me), this experience brought out my love of Corny Jokes!  ;)

As you can see, this wasn't real corn, like my sister has in Ohio!  I'm wondering if it was some kind of dwarf variety??  Or just dwarfed by drought??  Oh well, it was still fun . . . even if most of us were taller than the corn!  :)

I'm glad you got to take time away from your unpacking to enjoy an outing. I've never been in a corn maze, dwarf or giant. I'm hoping my daughter in Indiana will get to do one soon.

I think it is neat how farmers are "thinking outside the box" these days in order to survive financially. Corn mazes are really big up here....from the family friendly to the haunted.

Audrey loved our trip to the corn maze. In fact, she requested a trip to either the Suter Farm or the Creation Museum for her birthday! (We are going to the creation museum next week!)

I'm sure the maze was interesting in such short corn! Do you think it made navigating easier or harder? I think it is "a-mazing" how there appears to be no rhyme or reason in the twists and turns, and then you climb up for an overall view of the field, and there is a beautiful design carved out! I can't even make an artistic design on paper...

I'm glad you were able to take some time away from unpacking to have some fun with the family! Work will always be there, but our family won't! :)
It looks like you had a great time. Don't forget to bake those pumpkin seeds........they are delicious!! :)

Becca,

You will have to send me the recipe for roasting the pumpkin seeds and I will give it a try! :)
