How Would You Use This Space?

One of the challenging aspects of moving is that you don't just take your stuff out of its location in one house and deposit it in the identical spot in another house.  Every house is arranged differently: each offers different organizational challenges to overcome.

One of the unique challenges in this house centered around the previous residents' fascination with the "fruit of the vine!"  They had turned the pantry into a wine cellar (with no shelves!) and had a wet bar area in the kitchen complete with a wine cooler that features different temperature settings for white or red wine!!!  They were obviously real connesuers!

Since we are not drinkers of "adult beverages," these fancy features were totally wasted on us!!   So, my dilemma was how to creatively redeem that space and make it work for us.  How would you have used this space???

Obviously, we didn't waste a lot of brain cells on the wine cellar.  With a little bit of money and effort, my husband and oldest son turned it back into a pantry, which I quickly filled with the food!

But what about the wet bar area??  After much thought, this is what I decided on:

I turned the "wine bar" into a "coffee bar!"  I bought two glass cannisters at Ross to store my coffee beans -- one for regular coffee and one for decaf.  Then, I have my coffee grinder, cream and sugar set, etc. all set up there ready for "the daily grind."  The wine cooler??  It is now a convenient creamer cooler, plus it houses my husband's diet coke stash!  :)

What do you think?  Is this a good use of this space??

Love it!!!!!!!! :) You are so creative! :)

I would love to have a pantry like that...what a great space for storage....you can keep your coconut oil and whole grain buckets there! (I have to store my oil in the basement and haul it up when I need to "refill" my jars!)

We will have so much fun utilizing that coffee bar together...when I eventually get there that is! It looks like I will have fun trying all the different creamer varieties you have on hand! I tend to get in the habit of just buying french vanilla.

Great job!! You could start a great home business for decorating/storage/organizing ideas! (You could get some "free" experience at my house!)

Great idea! And it is always nice to have an extra sink and frig in the kitchen, esp one that holds just beverages! Good job!!

Very good use of space!!! Now what to do with the sign on the door?

I would've done the same with the wet bar and perhaps added popular snacks so that the kids could easily help themselves. What a shame it doesn't have a sink so that they can also clean up afterwards! lol

Oops, it does have a sink. Why didn't I see that the first time? Even better!

This is great! I know just what you need! Unfortunately, I have forgotten what it's called. =( I'll ask my Elisabeth. It makes individual cups of coffee, with a big variety of choices. The woman who hosted Elisabeth's bridal luncheon had one, and we all had fun playing with it. (We drank the coffee; we didn't just play with it.)

Excellent use of the space! I'm impressed. :) And that's a beautiful bar area, no matter what.

Well now you've given me an idea for what I'd like in my house when we buy one. I'm just wondering where's the tea? :)

Looks perfect to me. I love the idea of using it for a coffee bar. That way you don't have it take up valuable space on the kitchen counter.
