31 Days of Pumpkin: Day 14

Yes They're All Ours:31 Days

Here in the deep south, October may offer a crisp, fall day where you reach for a sweatshirt, right along side a scorcher of a day where you check your calendar to make sure you didn't flip a couple months ahead by mistake!  When it's one of those sweltering days, you may not be in the mood for pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins and pumpkin lattes!  How about a Pumpkin Milkshake instead???

I tried this recipe out on Matt and Bethany one day when the older kids were involved in an activity with their friends and the "little ones" were feeling left out and sad.  It apparently not only tastes good, but soothes hurt feelings as it slides down!  ;)

Pumpkin Milkshakes

1 cup half-and-half (I used whole milk)
4 cups vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
whipped cream and ground nutmeg for a garnish (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.  Pour into chilled glasses, preferably stemware or something special!  Garnish with whipped cream and nutmeg, if desired.  Serve immediately.

(This recipe came from Taste of Home.)
