A Couple of Surprises!

This past weekend was packed full of activities, special surprises and celebrations.  First of all, Abby arrived on Thursday evening to surprise Joe when he returned from a school activity!!  He was totally shocked (and delighted!) to see her!!  :)

Since he had a school holiday on Friday, they were able to enjoy spending the day hanging out together.

Then, that night we hosted a surprise birthday party for Kristi.  Josh blindfolded her and drove her all over town and then took her to a "fine eating establishment" for a special dinner!  :)  When the blindfold was removed, she discovered that any hopes she may have had for a "quiet dinner for two" were dashed!!  ;)  Hopefully, she enjoyed her loud and crazy surprise party just as much!!!

The menu for the night was Baked Salmon, Linguine with Butter and Parmesan Cheese, Roasted Asparagus, Sauteed Green Beans and Buttered Carrots.  Kristi enjoyed eating her birthday dinner on the "You are Special" plate, which is a favorite family tradition.

Scenes from around the table . . .

We had 15 people around our table!  :)    (It may seem quite full -- but we still had an empty chair that we wish could have been filled by Ashlyn!!  It is hard having her so far away!)

I Love this picture of Abby!  Doesn't she look pretty??

Joe "putting away" his second plate of pasta!!!!!!!!  (Oh, what I wouldn't give for such a high metabolism!!!)  ;)

Unbelievably, the temps actually fell to the freezing mark -- so we took advantage of the rare opportunity to build a fire in the fireplace!!

There is something so special about having a fire!

After dinner, the guys did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen!!!  Hooray for men with dishpan hands!!!  ;)

Then it was time for cake!  I made Kristi my famous cheesecake!

Topped with blueberries or cherries . . .

Or both!!!  ;)

After dessert and coffee, Kristi opened her presents.

Josh and Kristi also announced their decision to move their wedding up a year -- so wedding planning and preparations will probably be taking up a good bit of space in my mind, on my to-do list and on my blog in the coming months, as we work together to prepare for a May wedding!

And the party continued!

With plenty of random craziness . . .

Abby's friend, Steph, also came for the weekend, and we enjoyed getting to know her!!  Hopefully, we didn't scare her away with our Loud and Crazy ways!!!!  ;)

So thankful for an amazing, memorable weekend!
