Celebrating a Birthday Away from Home

Wednesday was my niece, Amber's, 22nd birthday.  I made her a special breakfast early that morning -- buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, bacon and "runny eggs."

Unfortunately, she had about three minutes to eat it, before she and Tiffany rushed out the door for school!  (In fact, she left so quickly, that she forgot her lunch!)  Amber is student teaching at the school where Tiffany teaches and where Joe goes.

That night after church, we stuck some candles in her favorite turtle brownies and sang Happy Birthday to her at the top of our lungs, first in English . . .

and then in Chinese!!!!  :)

Then, Amber opened her present from her Mom -- a Kindle Fire!!!  (Is it OK to admit here that I'm jealous??)  ;)

I hope she had a good birthday, even though she is hundreds of miles away from home . . .

There was more fun and celebrating on Thursday night . . . check back tomorrow to read about that and see more pictures!!!

Thanks for blogging about Amber's Birthday!! :) Strange to think that this is the first time in four years I have been able to see pictures of her on her special day!! Thanks for trying to make this day special for her!! I hope she enjoys her Kindle...I hear she has had little opportunity to enjoy it herself ! LOL She actually had asked for an Ipod touch, but, the mom in me thought this would be more practical!! :)
Happy Birthday Amber! :)
