Painting, Blogging and Other Messy Projects!

I know I'm crazy, but I've always enjoyed painting!  It is sort of relaxing, and I love the way you can transform a room simply by updating the wall color.  It's a good thing, too -- because we've bought and rented a few fixer-uppers through the years that needed a great deal of painting! Plus, with 24 hands in our house, freshly painted walls have never lasted long!  ;)  So, I've found myself with a paintbrush in hand quite often through the years!

Lately, I've been working to "add a fresh coat of paint" to my blog.  Have you noticed some changes to my home on the web??

I really want to bless my husband and relieve some of his stress by contributing to our income.  Like the Proverbs 31 woman, I am seeking ways to do this from home.  I was super excited when I learned that you can make money through blogging, since this is something that I enjoy, and that can be done from home, squeezed into the nooks and crannies of my busy days.  Plus, I love sharing about my big, crazy family and encouraging other women according to the mandate of Titus 2:3-5, which helps me fulfill my life calling.

So, I've been "painting" and "rearranging" and "redecorating" around here, as part of an effort to improve my blog, to increase traffic, and to begin to earn some money through blogging.  This has involved some cosmetic changes, the addition of ads on my sidebar and also a new domain name.  My blog is now located at  http://www.yestheyareallours.com .  If you enter my old address of  http://yes-theyre-all-ours.blogspot.com , you should be redirected.  However, I've noticed that those of you who have my blog in a blogroll on your blog's sidebar have not been receiving updates.  So, you might want to update the URL of my blog in your blog list widget.

If you have a family-friendly product or service that you offer and would like to get the word out to my readers, check out my advertising policies.  I would love to highlight your business on my blog!  I am also willing to do product reviews and/or giveaways.

Also, you can help me tremendously by supporting my sponsors and by shopping through my affiliate links, where I earn a small percentage from your purchases.

If you like my blog and find encouragement here, would you consider helping me grow my readership by sharing my blog with your friends?  This is easily done through the use of the Like, Share, and Tweet buttons found at the bottom of each post or by emailing a link to my blog to your friends. You can also help me by following me on Facebook and Twitter and by adding my blog button to the sidebar of your blog.

Furthermore, you can help me by providing feedback.  Will you please leave a comment letting me know what changes you think would be helpful, what topics you would like me to blog about, and what types of posts you most enjoy?  This would help me to serve you better!

Thank you for your support and also your patience . . . especially if you happen to visit my blog when I am in the middle of a project and find that things are in disarray.  As you may know from experience, every home-improvement project seems to take longer, cost more, and be messier than you expect!  I think blog-improvement projects are similar creatures!  So, don't be surprised if you discover a mess every now and then!  ;)

Thanks for reading!

Hi Elizabeth,
First of all I would like to tell you that I really like your blog. I stumbled across it a few months back and have since read many of your posts from way back.
I guess what I like most about it is your authentic voice and the picture you paint of the daily life of your large family. The ups and downs, the hopes, the dreams and your beliefs let your blog come truly alive.
Thanks for letting me know about the new domain. I had been wondering all along why I did not see any new posts of yours. I will update my blogroll accordingly so that my (mostly European) readers can access your updates, too.
In terms of how I would like to see your blog evolve - it is perfect as it is. Please don't change anything substantial. Also, whilst it is great that you are now actively supporting your husband in extending the household budget, I would try and carefully balance the "commercial" and the "authentic" aspect of the blog. I am sure it can be done but might take a little time to figure out exactly how.
Best wishes

EDIT - I just tried adding your new URL to my blogroll via Google Reader. For some reason only a post from over a week ago shows up. I wonder whether any of your other readers are experiencing the same problem?

Dear Miss W,

THANK YOU so much for taking the time to give me some feedback! You don't know how much I appreciate your words of encouragement!!! Since you took the time to be very specific, it made it all the more helpful to me!!

I really appreciate the fact that you like my blog the way it is, and that you are drawn to the "Realness" and "Authenticity" as I try to share a realistic view of our daily lives. That is valuable information, as I seek to find the right balance in blogging!

I will try to figure out the problem with google reader. Did you enter my new URL correctly? Notice that I changed from "yestheyreallours" to "yestheyareallours" due to availability of the domain name, so you might double check to be sure you entered it correctly.
