Are you a Super Bowl family?? Did you gather around the TV with family, and maybe some friends, and watch the Super Bowl last night? We did! (Minus the half-time show, which we've learned is best to avoid!) I don't know about you, but we were happy to see the NY Giants win!
Although the football game is the centerpiece, perhaps the best part of Super Bowl Sunday is the food! My family loves me to serve up a fun Super Bowl supper for them to eat during the game.
One of our favorite recipes is this delicious Super Bowl Dip that's made in the crock pot. This has been a family favorite ever since Luke was born 13 years ago! Here's the recipe:
Super Bowl Dip
1 pound ground beef
1 pound bulk sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
2 pound-package Velveeta cheese
1 12-ounce jar salsa
1 8-ounce cream cheese
1 cream of mushroom soup
Texas Pete hot sauce to taste
Put onions and peppers into skillet and brown with ground beef and sausage.
Meanwhile, cube cheese and put in crock pot.
Add cream of mushroom soup and salsa.
Add ground beef/sausage mixture.
Stir occasionally, until melted and well-blended.
Dip is ready when melted evenly.
Serve with Frito Scoops.
Note: You can make this as spicy as you like by using mild, medium or hot sausage and salsa.
Here is a brand new recipe that I made for the first time this year -- Jalapeno Ranch Dip. This had just a little bite to it. It wasn't nearly as spicy as the name suggests!
Jalapeno Ranch Dip
1 cup mayonnaise
2/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup salsa verde
3/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
2 jalapeno peppers, halved and seeded
1 envelope Ranch salad dressing mix
Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Cover and process until smooth. Chill. Serve with chicken wings, tortilla chips, and/or carrot and celery sticks.
For dessert, Hannah made these Awesome Homemade Snicker Bars!! (which we discovered on Pinterest!) As soon as she gets her blog post up with the recipe, I will post a link! For now, take a look at this mouth-watering picture!! :)
