Thank God for Sisters!

The catalyst for my recent trip to South Carolina was to return my niece, Amber, to my sister, Rebecca, who lives in Ohio.  We met "halfway" at my parent's house in Greenville to "make the exchange!"   So, I got to squeeze in a fun little visit with my sister!  :)

On Sunday afternoon, we managed to sneak in an excursion to downtown Greenville for some "special sister time!"

{one of our hilarious attempts at a self-portrait!  Finally, this young man, obviously amused by our repeated attempts to take our own picture, came and offered his services!!  The picture he took is a little farther down on this post!!}

When we got downtown, we headed for Spill the Beans -- this cool "hang-out spot" beside the Reedy River where young people and families congregate for specialty coffee, gourmet ice-cream and old-fashioned conversation.  We planned to order coffee, and found ourselves mysteriously holding cups of delicious, cold, creamy ice cream instead!  ;)

And about that "old-fashioned conversation" -- I've nicknamed my sister the "texting queen!"  I think everyone in Ohio was texting her that day!  :)

It never ceases to amaze me how they have transformed downtown Greenville in recent years!  When I was a girl, no one went downtown unless they had to!  It was old, dirty, deserted . . . but now it is Revitalized, Alive and Teeming with activity!  I couldn't believe the crowd that milled about on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!  We enjoyed looking out over the Reedy River, which was once a polluted, sluggish waterway that was a disgrace to the city, but is now a focal point and showcase of the city with the creation of Falls Park, which has been enthusiastically embraced by residents and visitors alike!

Look who joined us??  My daughter, Ashlyn!  :)

*Thanks to Amber for the use of her camera, otherwise I wouldn't have any pictures from my time in South Carolina!  Still mourning the demise of our only camera.  :(

I have the best sister ever and I love her so very much! I am truly thankful to be a part of her life!
