Flip Flops for the Fourth

On July 3rd, we invited some girls from church over for a flip-flop party!  Hannah and I had purchased flip flops in assorted sizes the Saturday before, when they were selling like hotcakes at Old Navy for the rock-bottom price of $1 a pair!

We also purchased an assortment of patriotic ribbon and decorations from Michael's for 50% off -- so we were ready to transform plain white flip flops into fancy 4th of July flip flops!

It's amazing what you can do with some ribbon, hot glue gun, and a little creativity!

It was fun to watch the girls create their masterpieces!  :)

Some red, white and blue polish waiting patiently to transform toes into works of art!  ;)

One pair ready . . .

The flip-flop design team -- Julie, Tiffany, Abby, Emily, Maddie, Dianna, Kristi and Hannah (not pictured).

Just like the girls that made them, each pair was created with similar raw materials, and yet was totally unique from the others!

When the flip flops were done, the girls turned their attention to their toenails!

Some creatively painted toenails emerged to compliment the red, white and blue flip flops!

Here are the girls all ready to step out in style for our church's annual July 4th picnic!

Tomorrow, I'll share about the desserts we made for our church's annual July 4th Dessert Contest!!  So, make sure to check back and see what our family entered and find out if we won!  :)

I'm sure the flip-flops were great, but I got distracted by the beauty of the flexi-clip in the first pic! :)

What a neat idea. Makes me wish we could have a 4th of July although we're hardly likely to be wearing flipflops (I won't say what I call them as the term is ahem not acceptable in some countries) with the weather so chilly and frost on the ground!

So cute and a fun idea for the summer!! We made flip flops one night by tying strips off different colored fabric strips all along the straps till they were completely covered.
