TGIF: Gold Medal Moments! {Link up!}

TGIF

Welcome to my link up -- Thank God It's {Family Fun} Friday !!

I want to encourage you to create memories, build family traditions, and have fun with your family!  Because children grow up faster than you think possible . . .

Many families look forward to having a Family Fun Night on Fridays.  Is this something your family does?  Tell us about it!  What are your favorite Friday night activities?  How does your family have fun and create memories together?  Please share!

Gold Medal Moments
One thing that I remember doing with my parents and sister when I was growing up and now do with my children is watching the Olympics together.

My sister and I used to love watching the gymnastics and ice skating competitions, which are two of my daughters' favorite events, as well!  So, of course we stayed up very late last night to watch Gabby Douglas compete for and win the All-Around Gold medal in Gymnastics!

I have wanted her to win ever since I first saw her perform in the Olympic trials last month.  I thought then that she had the makings of a champion -- and I was right!  :)

As I've watched her during this Olympics, doing her routines and interacting with her teammates, I've only become a greater fan of Gabby Douglas! I was drawn to her sweet spirit, 100-watt smile, and radiant countenance, in addition to her powerful performances!  When she was interviewed by a reporter after winning gold, my admiration for her was over the top!  She enthusiastically and whole-heartedly gave God all the glory!  I had already suspected she might be a Christian, and was so thrilled to see her acknowledge her Creator for her talents and gifts and hard-won victory!  If you ask me, Gabby is a True Champion!

We've also enjoyed watching the swimming competitions as a family.  The women's team has been amazing this year, and who can't resist the winning combination of teammate/rivals, Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte??

I just had to share this picture of Matt and Bethany, who bought these "Olympic swimming sets" with their own money and then had a great time watching the Olympics in style!  ;)  They were so cute watching intently and cheering loudly, "Go America!"  :)

And here is one more dose of cuteness -- this is Bethany playing "Reporter" and interviewing Luke, asking him how he won his race!  :)  Priceless memories in the making!!  :)

My daughter was a competitive swimmer and now my granddaughter is. When I watch Olympic diving I give thanks to God neither one was interested in diving! That must give parents a heart attack to watch.
