My Milestone Birthday

As you may remember (if you're younger than I am!), Thursday was the day I became the "new 30!"  ;)

It turned out to be a super Busy Day and despite my best intentions, many items from my to-do list were not accomplished that day, including drawing and announcing the winners of my September giveaways!

I started my day by oversleeping.  :(  Normally, I wake up early and have my Quiet Time, check my email, work on a blog post, unload the dishwasher, and make breakfast for everyone.  On this day, I got up very late, hurried to the kitchen to start breakfast for those who were about to leave for college or work, and discovered Tiffany grinning from ear to ear, because she had managed to surprise me by making me a special breakfast!  :)

It was a really nice treat to wake up to the aroma of bacon cooking and coffee brewing (the two best smells in the world) and discover that Tiffany had made me a yummy omelette with ham, cheese, spinach and mushrooms along with bacon and some Dunkin Donuts Pumpkin Spice Coffee!  :D  (She also made eggs for the guys who were about to leave for college/work, so that I didn't have to!)

i spent a good part of my morning responding to over a hundred birthday greetings on Facebook and many birthday text messages!  (How fun is that?!)  I also had a nice long (and much overdue!) phone chat with my BFF from South Carolina!  :)  I sat on my front porch (where I get the best reception) and enjoyed catching up with her life, while sipping a cup of coffee.

Then, I had to prepare the homework for the character class I teach, and before I knew it, it was time to rush out the door for our weekly homeschool co-op meeting, which starts at noon.  After co-op, I worked with Josh and Kristi to get the church cleaned just as fast as we could!  At that point, I was hot and sweaty and knew I would need a shower before the evening's events.  So, I rushed home to take a shower and get ready, and also started throwing some things in a suitcase for my weekend away.

By 6:15 we were headed to the local crisis pregnancy center's annual fund-raising banquet, where my husband and I were serving as table hosts. The guest speaker was Bruce Wilkinson, author of many best-selling Christian books, such as The Prayer of Jabez and The Secrets of the Vine.  I was unprepared for how powerful his presentation would be!  It was phenomenal, and the Holy Spirit moved on hearts to donate a record amount to this vital ministry!!

Nevertheless, I was pretty tired by the time we got home at 10:30 pm, and still had to finish packing for our trip to South Carolina!  We planned to leave at 6 am the next morning!  (But, I'll confess that we didn't make that deadline!  It was 7:30 am before we were headed for the "land of beautiful places and smiling faces!")

So, I grabbed my laptop and figured I'd draw and announce winners while at my parent's house over the weekend -- but the time there flew by, and I just never squeezed it in.  I got home late Sunday night and was totally exhausted, and then yesterday was Chris's birthday, so I had to pull together a birthday celebration for him, on top of unpacking and getting out my Marriage Monday post and making sure some school work got done.  (Yes, Never a dull moment around here!)

So -- here it is -- October 2nd, and I've still got a stack of giveaways to wrap up!!  Hopefully today . . .  (Thank you for your patience!)
