Marriage Monday: Reaping the Rewards! {Link up}

Marriage Mondays"

Welcome back to Marriage Monday!  Today, I am posting the exciting conclusion of my Mom's precious words of wisdom on Living with an Unsaved Mate. If you are just joining in, you might want to go back and read the Introduction, her advice on Accepting Your Man Just the Way He Isher counsel on Living in a House Dividedand her understanding of what it's like When a Wife Must Walk Alone.  Then read the warngins she learned the hard way on What Not to Do to Win Your Husband to the Lord, as well as her tried and true tips on What a Wife Can Do to Help See Her Husband Come to Know the Lord. Today, she shares about that grand and glorious day when all her prayers were answered!!!!

My Mom and Me -- May 11, 2012

This is the most exciting day of my posts! Seventeen years after the devastating news from my husband that upon understanding what true salvation really was (not just living a morally good life, but making Jesus the Lord and Master of his life), he realized he was not saved and not ready to be saved, God did a marvelous work of grace!!  He gave my mate a brand new heart, just as God had promised me some years earlier!

How did it happen??  My husband says God drew him to Himself through the testimony of my life and the life of our oldest daughter. That is truly a humbling thought!!

Yes, all the years of waiting were worth it!!

Yes, all the tears and heartache were worth it!!

Yes, it is also true that all those long years of praying and waiting seemed to melt into a small blur, a short time, in the reality of the wonderful truth of that special day when my husband finally came to know Jesus as His Savior and LORD!! How glorious are the ways of God!!

Would God have saved him if I had been disobedient to His clear commands??  One thing I know for sure, I would have missed out on the joy that is mine from knowing that God in His incredible wisdom and sovereignty chose to stoop down and use an unworthy vessel like me to be a part of His great plan for my husband’s life. I would have failed to be faithful to my God-given ministry as His witness in our home. (Note: I was faithful -- but far from perfect!) This is too high for me to grasp and so very humbling!!

Humbling too is the way God gave His promise to me some years earlier as I was earnestly seeking His face in prayer and fasting for the salvation of my husband.  God spoke to my heart saying, “I have saved him. Wait patiently to see it.”

From that day until the day my husband was saved, if I in prayer began to ask God for His salvation, that same, still, small voice would speak to my heart saying, “Don’t ask me. Thank Me for I have saved him!”

Oh how my heart rejoiced!!! The waiting, though hard, was wrought with the promises of God!!  I had the promise of God in my heart and His Word is a sure word!! He cannot lie!
Accepting the reality this time was easy!!

Watching my husband mature in His walk with God was exciting. It was slow at first and still required waiting before he was able to grasp and share in the joys I felt from what God was teaching me. But with time and growth, God fulfilled the deep longings of my heart—a oneness and deep love for each other that has grown deeper, sweeter, and stronger through the years and especially so in these later years of our lives!!

My precious Mom and Dad, March 2012

If you'd like to see some more pictures of my Mom and Dad from the last 52 years (and even some really ugly pictures of me and my sister growing up!) click here and watch the slide show I made for their 50th wedding anniversary!  I just watched it -- and the tears are flowing!!

I hope you have been blessed by this series!!  It was a blessing for me to read my mom's story and share it with you, and I am so grateful that I now have it recorded here on my blog for my children and grandchildren and even great-grandchildren to read in years to come!  (Should the Lord tarry!!)  Would you please pray with me that my Dad would be willing to share his side of this story??  If you knew him, you would know that it would take a miracle!!  But, as you've just read, miracles still happen every day!  :)

Your Turn to Share:

Do you live with an unsaved man?  Or do you have a testimony of your husband coming to the Lord after much prayer and patiently living out Christ before him?  If you have a testimony that will encourage other women in a similar situation, please share!

Great topic for a series!!! Thanks for sharing about your folks ... I have a beloved friend in mind whose husband is being loved to Christ as we speak!!!

I've only been married for three and a half years but I shared a post from my limited experience of waiting for my husband when he was away (Navy), and how it reminded me of Easter and our faith!
