Our Christmas Miracle {Part 5}

Learning to trust God is a journey. Many times it is like looking through the fog, trying to discern what God is doing in our lives.  I know that I am prone to worrying, fretting, and trying to figure out answers to my problems by thinking through every angle, analyzing and over-analyzing the situation, looking for a solution. However, even when I think I'm looking at every possible answer, I'm still only seeing dimly as through the fog! Until God shines His light on a problem, we really can't begin to see how to solve it. Sometimes (as in our situation with the house) we've exhausted all possibilities and have no choice but to cast ourselves on the Lord in utter dependence on Him.

During this difficult journey of watching and waiting to see how God was going to solve our house dilemma, the devotional book, Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young encouraged me so much!  (See link below.)  Many times the reading for the day was exactly what I needed to help me keep my eyes on the Lord and to give me a daily injection of hope and trust! This little book was such a blessing to me!

Here are a few of the daily readings that really spoke to me during this time:


December 21:

My plan for your life is unfolding before you. Sometimes the road you are traveling seems blocked, or it opens up so painfully slowly that you must hold yourself back. Then, when time is right, the way before you suddenly clears—through no effort of your own. What you have longed for and worked for I present to you freely, as pure gift. You feel awed by the ease with which I operate in the world, and you glimpse My Power and My Glory.

Do not fear your weakness, for it is the stage on which My Power and Glory perform most brilliantly. As you persevere along the path I have prepared for you, depending on My strength to sustain you, expect to see miracles—and you will. Miracles are not always visible to the naked eye, but those who live by faith can see them clearly. Living by faith, rather than sight, enables you to see My Glory.


January 6:

I am able to do far beyond all that you ask or imagine. Come to Me with positive expectations, knowing that there is no limit to what I can accomplish. Ask My Spirit to control your mind, so that you can think great thoughts of Me. Do not be discouraged by the fact that many of your prayers are yet unanswered. Time is a trainer, teaching you to wait upon Me, to trust Me in the dark. The more extreme your circumstances, the more likely you are to see My Power and Glory at work in the situation. Instead of letting difficulties draw you into worrying, try to view them as setting the scene for My glorious intervention. Keep your eyes and your mind wide open to all that I am doing in your life.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

January 22:

Strive to trust Me in more and more areas of your life. Anything that tends to make you anxious is a growth opportunity. Instead of running away from these challenges, embrace them, eager to gain all the blessings I have hidden in the difficulties. If you believe that I am sovereign over every aspect of your life, it is possible to trust Me in all situations. Don’t waste energy regretting the way things are or thinking about what might have been. Start at the present moment—accepting things exactly as they are—and search for My way in the midst of those circumstances.

Trust is like a staff you can lean on, as you journey uphill with Me. If you are trusting in Me consistently, the staff will bear as much of your weight as needed. Lean on, trust, and be confident in Me with all your heart and mind.

Praying for your Christmas miracle! I love this picture, too! I'm 99% sure I know where it is, and I just love that place! Got a lot a good memories there, and just around the bend too. I wish I was a coastal Georgia girl!
