From my Front Porch ~ June 28, 2013

from my front porch

Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea, or perhaps even a glass of lemonade, and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news!  I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!

Around the House

We've been slowly making our way through my new house.  I hope you're enjoying the tour!  We stopped in the master bedroom last week, and this week I thought I'd invite you into my master bathroom and closet.  You should feel privileged, because I don't take just anyone back there!  ;)

This is my bathroom.  It is the same pale green as my bedroom, and feels so light and airy!  I really love the color and the overall feel!  Don't you??  :)

The view to the left:

The shower . . .

The tub . . .

Did you notice my seashell collection on the window sill?  I love finding treasures at the beach!  :)

Now, let's walk through the door at the back of the bathroom . . .

And this is what you see . . . my amazing closet!  Now, I must tell you that the previous owner had more shoes than I've ever seen at one time in my entire life!!  She had shoes shoved into every shelf of this shoe shelf . . .

And boots all across this top shelf . . .

She even had more shoes stored on this shelf!  Well, since I'm not a shoe-aholic, I've put this set of shelves to better use -- I turned it into a bookshelf!  :)  Because I only have two feet, and can only wear so many shoes, but I can never have too many books!!  Right??  ;)

And this is my hubby's side of the closet:

Obviously, we have plenty of closet space!  Truly, we don't need all of that room for ourselves, but we "rent" space to the guys and gals up above whose closets are overflowing with multiple kids per room!  ;)   We also store the containers of clothes for each child to grow into in here . . . so all that space is being put to good use!  :)

Family News

We have really enjoyed having my niece, Amber, here this week!  :)

Apparently, she gives great massages!  ;)

It has been fun having her around again!  :)

Unbelievably, Joe and Abby's Big Day is almost here, so we've shifted our focus to getting ready for the wedding!!  My To-do list has been long, but not necessarily tedious!  ;)

We've worked on our suntans (in between thunderstorms!) . . .

Gotten haircuts . . .

Enjoyed Pedicures . . .

Shopped for special clothes with friends . . .

And baked dozens and dozens of cookies!!  Chris has become the family baker, because he can produce some fantastic cookies!  So, he graciously volunteered to make all the cookies for the rehearsal dinner!  He made his famous chocolate chocolate chip cookies, my sister's delicious peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and the traditional classic chocolate chip cookie!  YUM!  :)

Since I'm pretty sure you're going to want the recipe for Chris's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies, here it is!  :)

Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups softened butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups white chocolate chips
2 cups milk chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).  Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder and baking soda.

2.  Beat the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.  Beat in each egg one at a time until completely incorporated.  Add vanilla with last egg.

3.  Mix in flour mixture just until incorporated, scraping the bowl to make sure the bottom is mixed well. Fold in chocolate chips, mixing just enough to evenly combine.

4.  Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet.  (Or use medium cookie scoop for best results.)  Bake in preheated oven for 9 to 12 minutes. (Chris bakes his for 11 to 12 minutes.)  Let cool one minute before removing to wire cooling rack.

5.  Enjoy!!  :)

Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit!  If you have time, please drop by and visit with my dear friend, Lori.  She blogs from the front porch of her cozy little log cabin nestled in the woods of the South Carolina mountains.  You will enjoy her warm and witty writing style!  Tell her that Elizabeth sent you!  :)

Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!!
