Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea, or perhaps even a glass of lemonade, and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news! I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!
Around the House
We resumed the tour of my house last week, and I promised to take you into the bedrooms today, but I had such a busy week that I didn't have time to get up there and take any pictures! So, instead, I'm going to show you a little project we had going on in the back yard this week! :)
Now all we need is more chilly evenings so we can enjoy our new fire pit! :)
Last Saturday, the whole family spent the day working around the house. We cleaned; we cooked; we schemed; we decorated; we even constructed a fire pit! Then, that evening we celebrated! :) Want to be a "fly on the wall" and watch the surprise as it unfolded??
Chris had turned 18 earlier in the week, but I told him we would have our family celebration on Saturday night, so he wasn't the least bit suspicious as he observed all the preparations! :)
His party featured a big feast for 25 that included marinated grilled chicken, homemade shells and cheese, buttered carrots, sauteed cabbage and bacon, and a 7-layer salad. Yum! :) We followed that up with a Texas sheet cake and a Pumpkin pound cake (Chris's favorite)!
Chris loves hanging out with his friends from church, so he had an awesome time at his party! :)
Most of the guests gave Chris 18 of something . . .
There were some very creative gifts in those bags! :)
Hannah framed one of her photos of the surf with one of Chris's favorite C.S. Lewis quotes!
The handsome birthday boy! (I can't wrap my mind around the fact that he's 18!)
A blast from the past . . . (13 years ago!)
The grand finale of the evening was a bonfire and s'mores!
It was a great party! :)
Next Friday, I'll get back to telling you about my trip to Boston!
I hope you've had a great week and enjoyed some beautiful "front porch days" wherever you live! :)
Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! If you have time, please drop by and visit with my dear friend, Lori. She blogs from the front porch of her cozy little log cabin nestled in the woods of the South Carolina mountains. You will enjoy her warm and witty writing style! Tell her that Elizabeth sent you! :)
Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!!
