From my Front Porch ~ January 10, 2013

Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news!  I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!

Last Friday, the "fantastic five" and my oldest daughter, Tiffany and I drove to South Carolina for a visit.  When we arrived at my parent's house, this is what I saw:

Those of you who have followed my Mom's story are probably just as shocked as I was to see her looking soooo good!!!  :)  Wow!  She is one amazing woman - who serves an AMAZING GOD!!  :)

We had a wonderful visit with my parents!  My Dad loves to work crossword puzzles, so we all enjoy working puzzles with him when we are together!  After all, four minds are better than one!

I love this picture of my sweet Hannah stretching her brain with a challenging puzzle!  (If you happen to be admiring that gorgeous headband in her beautiful hair, you can order one here!)  ;)

Believe it or not, my Mom is back to going to church some Sundays, and she was able to go while we were there!  Isn't that amazing?!?

The timing for our visit to SC was determined by the wedding of this fabulous girl!

This precious young woman, Bethany, has been my daughter Ashlyn's best friend since she was 8!  Bethany was more than a friend, she was a part of our family, and was in our home a lot back in the day when my older kids were growing up back in South Carolina.  Anytime there was a family crisis, or even just a new baby, Bethany was there helping out with the younger children, the housework, and the cooking! Her enthusiasm and zest for living are unparalleled!  Our own little Bethany Ann was named after "big Bethany," which is probably one reason why Bethany loves Bethany so much!!  ;)

Ashlyn and Bethany  . . . the bestest of friends!  :)

So, it was with great anticipation and delight that we attended Bethany and David's wedding celebration . . . in a Barn!  :)  (An unheated barn at that!)

As you know, winters don't get very cold on the Georgia coast where we live, so I had sold most of our winter coats at a yard sale!!  Therefore, we had to borrow warm coats in order to survive the arctic blast that we encountered in the upstate of South Carolina this past weekend!  With some careful layering, we stayed warm enough . . . except for our feet!  :)  They were pretty numb by the time we left!

The barn was rustic, real, down to earth, transformed by light -- perfect in every way for Bethany's wedding celebration!  Enjoy these pictures from Bethany and David's Wedding Celebration:

Wow! What a blessing!  I hope your week was also blessed!

Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! I'd love for you to take a moment to "sign my guest book" (leave a comment!) so I can know that you stopped by and enjoyed your visit!  Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!  (In case you're wondering, my friend, Lori, has been too busy for front porch chats, as she has been immersed in planning and preparing for her first wedding! I hope she'll be back soon!)
