Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news! I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!
As I've already told you, I love the week between Christmas and New Years! It is so peaceful and quietly productive! So, this has been a good week for me, and not quite as busy as normal! ;)
What better way to end the year than with a roof-top dinner overlooking the Atlantic Ocean?!? Thanks to the generosity of Joe and Abby, Alan and I enjoyed a romantic dinner for two with a fabulous view of the sunset on Sunday evening!
On New Year's Eve, we invited some friends from church over to help us bring in the new year! I tried my hand at making seafood chowder with some fresh locally-caught seafood and it was delicious! (Recipe coming soon!) I also made one of my favorites - Zuppa Toscana. A friend brought a salad and we had some rolls. Actually, I made Pepperoni rolls! Ever heard of those? I grew up eating them, but my friends had never heard of them! So, expect a blog post about Pepperoni Rolls in the days ahead! :)
After dinner, we talked, played games, such as Dutch Blitz (see the champion in the picture below!) and our favorite for a large group, Catch Phrase, while the men watched football games! Then, before we knew it, it was time to count down to the new year. We tuned in to Times Square for the last two minutes of the year and watched the ball drop. Then toasted in the new year with chocolate milk!!! :) It was tons of fun being with those we love as we closed 2013 and welcomed 2014! How about you? How did you welcome the new year??
On New Year's Day, Alan took the boys down to Orlando for the Capital One Bowl to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks beat Wisconsin! Great day for my guys! From all reports, they had an awesome male-bonding sort of day! ;)
The rest of us had a very quiet, lazy sort of day at home! It was great! I'd love to hear about your New Year's Day!
Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! I'd love for you to take a moment to "sign my guest book" (leave a comment!) so I can know that you stopped by and enjoyed your visit! Please join me again next Friday on my front porch! (In case you're wondering, my friend, Lori, has been too busy for front porch chats, as she has been immersed in planning and preparing for her first wedding! I hope she'll be back soon!)
