From my Front Porch ~ May 2, 2014

Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news!  I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!

We've had another busy, busy week here! I sometimes wonder when life will ever slow down!  Do you feel the same way??

Sorry this post is a bit late going up today -- I spent a few hours at the dentist where seven of us had our teeth cleaned, sealants applied, etc. Fortunately, we had mostly good news and we love our dentist!  :)

One of the highlights of the past week was our State Day Celebration at our homeschool co-op.  Each student prepared a report and an appropriate dish for the state they studied. We had about half of the United States represented with many informative and entertaining presentations.

From our family -- Chris reported on Vermont and prepared a big batch of Pumpkin Maple Muffins made with real Vermont Maple Syrup.  Hannah shared about the last state to enter the Union, Hawaii, while wearing colorful leis and a grass skirt!  She brought a fresh pineapple to the table.

Luke did his report on West Virginia, because of our family ties there.  He brought Pepperoni Rolls, which originated in Fairmont, WV as an ideal food for coal miners to take into the mines to eat for their mid-day meal.  Matt got the honors of reporting on South Carolina, our home state, and since SC actually produces more peaches than Georgia, "the Peach State," he added a South Carolina Peach Cobbler to our feast.  Bethany enhusiastically reported on Kentucky, and brought some delicious Kentucky Derby Pie to share with all.

May is shaping up to be another very busy month for our family, full of birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, road trips, and special occasions!  I will come sit on my front porch whenever I can to share all the special occasions and celebrations with you!  If I don't make it here every Friday, just know we'll sit down and catch up when we can!  (You're probably busy during the month of May, too!)

Last week I shared about our homeschool co-op's special Formal Banquet where we honored our five seniors. Today I want to share a few more pictures from that very special occasion.  These were just too good to pass up!!  :)

I hope you enjoyed the pictures!  I'll look forward to seeing you here again next Friday on my front porch!

Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! I'd love for you to take a moment to "sign my guest book" (leave a comment!) so I can know that you stopped by and enjoyed your visit!  Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!
