Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news! I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!
I had to rush through our visit last week to get ready for some real life visitors to my front porch! My Brazilian "sister" Neide, her sister Daria, and Daria's daughter and boyfriend stopped by to see me on their way home from Florida! (They all live in the US nowadays.)
Wondering how I have a Brazilian sister? This is the scoop -- Neide lived with us during my senior year of high school as an "exchange student" from Brazil. Unfortunately for me, she spoke Portugese and I was a student of Spanish! But fortunately for me, she became a life long friend! :)
That was 34 years ago, folks! Can you believe it?? If you'd like to see some pictures of us back in 1979 and 1980 when Neide lived with me and my parents, click HERE.
Thanks to Facebook, email, blogs, and Skype, we've been able to reconnect in recent years! :)
While Neide was here, I introduced her to the Lilla Rose flexi clip! :) She and her sister both fell in love with this amazing hair clip! (Have you tried one yet??) Look how great the flexi looks in her hair!
It has been another busy week here! (I keep waiting for life to slow down!) VBS every night at church has kept us hopping! The fact is, almost every day I spend at least three hours in the car taking my sons to work and picking them up!!!! I've also been trying to be more diligent about teaching Chris and Hannah to drive. So, I've been spending a lot of time in the car this summer! I must admit that it is more fun for all concerned now that we have this cool ride!! :)
A 1999 VW Cabrio, which we named "Rio!" :) Believe me, Rio is a lot more fun to drive than the White Elephant!! (And way easier for the new drivers to learn on!!)
Now I'm wondering -- do you name your cars too?? ;)
What's new at your house? I'd love to hear about your week!
Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! I'd love for you to take a moment to "sign my guest book" (leave a comment!) so I can know that you stopped by and enjoyed your visit! Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!
