From My Front Porch ~ July 11, 2014

Welcome back to my weekly series, From my Front Porch, where I share updates from my home and family. My hope is that you'll fix yourself a cup of coffee or tea and imagine us sitting together on my front porch, chatting about life and catching up on the latest news!  I hope you'll join me each Friday on My Front Porch!

It has all the makings of a steamy day here on the Georgia coast!  I'm very thankful for air conditioning!  :)

Which reminds me -- a few of you have asked, and No, my cooktop is not fixed!  :(  We are still waiting on a part that was backordered!  Hopefully next week . . . . Fortunately, my oven is once again fully operational, and we've been making some yummy recipes from the blueberries we picked this past week!

My house is still torn apart today after our recent painting spree!  I have many pictures to rehang and I'm taking time to reconsider each one, before putting nail holes in our freshly painted walls!

I love Sherwin Williams for paint, and was blessed to be able to buy all the paint for our house during their 30% off sale!  That saved us a bundle!  :)

These are the colors I chose for the main living areas:  Khaki Shade for the dining room, Koi Pond for the kitchen, and Urban Putty for the family room, foyer, stairs and catwalk/hall on the second level.

I'll post pics when I get the rooms put back together and the pictures rehung.  It's going to take me awhile to rehang all the family pictures going up my stairs.  (Remember my picture wall?)

I had a lot of fun with the living room -- decided to be a bit bold and paint the walls a soft aqua to contrast with the sofa I inherited from Alan's Mom.  I was recently inspired to use aqua and coral and create a fun coastal look.  It really gave the room an entirely different feel!  Matt summed it up when he said -- "This room makes me feel so Joyful now!"  :)  Isn't he the sweetest??  :)  (You can see the Before pictures of this room HERE.)

Here's the powder room.  I really love the new color and look!!! I got the plates 40% off at Cracker Barrel  :)  What do you think?? (Contrast it to the old look HERE.  It's hard to really tell the color -- but it was a yellowish-green color that I didn't really care for.)

I'll post more pictures next week as I get the rooms put back together!  :)

July 3rd was Matt's 12th birthday!  He begged me for a birthday party and in a weak moment I agreed!  ;)  He invited 13 kids of all ages . . . and they all said Yes!!  Actually, I think we ended up with a head count of 15!  ;)  It was crazy, but fun, and we all survived to tell about it!  :)

Well, it's time to don our white shirts and black spots, as we are headed to Cow Day in just a bit.  How about you??  Will you be going to Cow Appreciation Day?  What projects have you been working on at your house??

Thanks for stopping by my front porch for a visit! I'd love for you to take a moment to "sign my guest book" (leave a comment!) so I can know that you stopped by and enjoyed your visit!  Please join me again next Friday on my front porch!
