I've already had a few opportunities to encourage weary homeschooling moms who are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, frustrated and like they just can't do it after starting back to school -- and it's only the 19th of August!!
Like I told one friend, I remember many days of crying myself to sleep at night, feeling like a failure, overwhelmed by all I had to do each day, frustrated with boys who wouldn't sit still and keep their hands to themselves and focus on their school work! Why did I keep going, year after year? Simply because I didn't want my children educated by a godless, humanistic educational system. I wanted them to know that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. I wanted to teach them godly character and to train them in the ways of righteousness. So, I plugged along, day after day, year after year . . . and now I'm glad that I did!
My tip for today is to remember that if it were easy, everyone would be doing it!
Whether it is homeschooling, trusting the Lord with the number of children you'll have, submitting to your husband, caring for your aging parents, or sharing the gospel here or in a foreign land . . . whatever hard thing God may have called you to do, He will give you the grace to do it!! Keep reminding yourself that if it were easy, everyone around you would be traveling on the same path! Taking the path less traveled is not the way to get there faster, easier, and without any scrapes or bruises! But there are many rewards for those who are willing to take that narrow, quiet, not-as-smooth path . . . especially when your Trail Guide points you in that direction!
"And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap if we faint not." ~ Galations 6:9
