Tuesday's Tip: Are You a Thermostat or a Thermometer?
Are you a thermostat or a thermometer??
While a thermometer registers the temperature in a room, a thermostat regulates it. If the thermostat recognizes that the temperature is a little too hot or a little too cold, it has the ability to change that and create a comfortable temperature in the room.
Consider the atmosphere of your home. Are you a thermometer, who simply reflects the moods and attitudes of those around you? As a thermometer, you are joyful if conditions are right and your family is in a good mood. You mope about in self-pity when things are going wrong and your husband and children are sullen or complaining and whining.
Or are you a thermostat, who detects the mood of the home and then sets about to change it, if need be? As a thermostat, you recognize bad moods and the resulting heavy atmosphere and immediately set out to create a more comfortable "temperature" in the home by smiling, singing, praising God, encouraging your husband and children, and looking for ways to create a lighthearted, joyful home.
So, which one are you? A thermostat or a thermometer??
