Marriage Monday: Model P31: But Thou Excellest Them All

Welcome back to Marriage Monday!  I'm so glad you've joined me as we focus on strengthening and promoting godly marriages, both in our nation and in our own backyards.  {The need for this has never been greater!}

Today I am continuing my series for wives (and future wives) based on the ideal wife of Proverbs 31. It is both fun and challenging to look at this passage verse by verse and then examine our own lives and look for practical ways to apply these timeless principles. Please join me each Monday as we continue to examine the character and wisdom of this noble woman and learn how we can each become a Model P31!

{Her husband also, and he praiseth her:}  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
~ Proverbs 31:29

In my last post, I talked about the blessing of children rising up and praising and honoring the virtuous woman with their words and with their lives. Today, the focus is on the husband's praise. Don't you love this?  He is saying, in essence, many young women have become good mothers and godly wives, but you excel them all! Wow! Wouldn't you love to hear your husband say that about you??  :)

The Amplified Bible translates that verse this way:

Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength
of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.

What made the P31 excel all other women?  It was her spiritual and practical devotion to God, which permeated every area and relationship of her life!! We will explore the secret to her strength and virtue in next week's post!

Think about this - her husband knows her better than anyone except God, and he gives her the highest praise!

It has to make us wonder if our husbands would praise us so highly?? It's a sobering question, is it not??

What made the virtuous wife so praiseworthy?

She was devoted to the Lord, her husband, and her children.
She used her time wisely.
She took good care of her home.
She reached out to others in love and compassion.
She was productive.

My goal is to be such a woman, who is worthy of my husband's highest praise!  How about you?

Especially for Single P31s:

As a single P31, I encourage you to begin now to develop the qualities of the virtuous wife. Encourage and build up the marriages of those around you, and pray that God will use your waiting time to build in you the character of a model P31!

Project P31, Mission #20:

Examine your life as a wife. Are you an encouraging, helpful, wife who makes your husband's life better? Are you devoted to your husband and to your calling to be a helpmeet?? Identify at least one area where you could improve!
